Road safety campaigns for Vervoerregio Amsterdam

Breaking patterns through effective behavioural interventions
For road safety campaigns and communication, the Vervoerregio Amsterdam collaborates with Bureau Buhrs and Van Hulzen Communicatie. This is a collaboration between Bureau Buhrs and Van Hulzen Communicatie, two agencies that have joined forces to combine strengths in behavioral change, communication, and participation. In addition, Markteffect contributes its expertise in effect research.

The number of road casualties must be reduced, and this can only be achieved through an integrated approach: combining safe infrastructure with safe traffic behavior, supported by education, information, and enforcement. Through the Verkeer & Meer implementation program, Vervoerregio Amsterdam is committed to collaborating with all fifteen municipalities. Program Manager Natascha Shahbaziane on the partnership with Bureau Buhrs Van Hulzen: “As Vervoerregio Amsterdam, we want to focus on an effective approach to shape the desired behavior of road users, which requires true customization. With Bureau Buhrs Van Hulzen, we bring expertise in the field of behavior, research, communication, and effect reserach. Exactly what we need to elevate road safety in the region.”
In addition to implementing national road safety campaigns such as BOB, MONO, Snelheid, and AAN, Bureau Buhrs Van Hulzen develops targeted campaigns for specific groups in the region, including older road users, children and parents, and young adults. Vervoerregio Amsterdam’s ambition is to make a tangible contribution to reversing the upward trend in road casualties through effective communication. By strategically applying behavioral science and delivering campaigns through excellent execution, supported by effect research and market research, we get to work with full confidence and great enthusiasm.
